Who are we?
We are a micro-bakery in the heart of Šternberk, specializing in sourdough baked goods. We used to bake so often and in such large quantities for our friends that our home kitchen couldn't keep up. And that’s how our bakery was born.
What is sourdough?
Sourdough, or in Czech language "kvásek", is a mixture of flour and water that is naturally fermented by wild yeast and bacteria. Thanks to the presence of lactobacillus, the process produces lactic acid (which gives the dough its characteristic tangy flavor) and carbon dioxide (which forms bubbles in the dough and helps it rise).
